Are you aware that there is another concept of indoor planting
called
“water bonsai”? I’ve learned about this last July 2015,
when I joined the Balikatan Samahang Makakalikasan Marketing
Cooperative. It’s mission is to put up and establish a civic
organization that will
help and educate people to broaden their understanding on the role of
plants. This led me to realize the importance of plants to our
environment.
And as I got more involved, I decided I should go deeper learning more
about water bonsai that Mr. Edwin dela Torre originally developed and
formulated; using the Amazing Powder Grower.
So, what exactly is “water bonsai”?
The word "Bonsai or Bon-sai’ is a Japanese term that
literally means ‘planted in a container’. Therefore, “water bonsai” simply means - a plant
planted in a container using water mixed with the Amazing Powder Grower.
So, how is it done?
Here are the materials you need:
1) Amazing Powder Grower (Beware of imitations!)

2) Plant Cutting/s like San Francisco or your favorite fortune plant
3) Used Glass Bottle or Used Plastic Bottle as temporary
planter
or Clear Glass
Bottle/Vases/Container for presentable planter
4) Used Styropor foam (from food packaging) or used paper,
as cover for planter
5) Masking Tape - 3/4 in. width
6) Scissors or Cutter
7) 1.5L empty bottle with cover ( a 1.5L soft drink bottle is ideal)
8) Tap Water
9) Pebbles or Colored Stones for décor toppings
10) Ribbons and other trims to conceal the Styrofoam
and to add beauty to your finished water bonsai
Procedures:
1. Mix the Amazing Powder Grower with 1.5 liters of tap water to make
the Bonsai growing solution.
2. Shake well for 30 sec. and leave for 24 hrs. until all crystal powder
settles at the bottom of the bottle and the water (solution) becomes clear.
3. Pour the solution into cleaned bottle/container leaving the
sediments/residue at the bottom.
4. Wrap the plant cutting/s with styropor foam enough to cover the bottle
opening to prevent mosquitoes from breeding inside. If you will use styropor, make sure to cut them first into strips of 1/2 inch width, to be able to wrap around the cuttings. For used paper, fold them first 4 times into 1/2 inch width to form the wrap. You need to use the masking tape to secure the wrap.
5. Insert the plant cutting into the bottle with at least 1-2 inches
immersed in the water bonsai solution.
6. Keep the bottle with cutting/s in a place not directly to sunlight to
prevent moss formation which can cause the plant cutting/s to dry or die.
7. Observe it every day to check if the water changes its color or
becomes unclear. If this happens, change the solution right away.
8. Spraying the cutting/s with the solution is recommended to speed up
the growth of leaves and small stems.
9. After a few weeks, when the roots have already sprouted, the
cutting/s can now be transferred to a more presentable, clean and clear vase
for a better presentation.
10. Replace the old wrappings with a new one using a masking tape to
properly hold the cuttings against the styropor and just enough to fit in the
vase.
11. Put decorative materials or ribbons outside or at the neck of the
vase to cover the styropor or foam used to hold the cuttings. Put some pebbles
or coloreds stones at the top of the vase for added beauty and to conceal the
styropor.
